Etta’s Channel Side Restaurant opened in 1987 when Etta MacDowell (original owner) finally realized her dream to own a restaurant on the Assateague Channel. Etta along with her daughter, Vickie Thornton, operated the Restaurant for nine years and established a reputation for fine food and excellent customer service. Since 1996 the restaurant has been owned and managed by Janet Gadow, assisted by Norma and Jerry Basham and a loyal staff. Many of Etta’s recipes, including her famous crab cakes and crab imperial, are served and continue to delight our guests.
