About Chincoteague Island Charter boat Association

We are a non profit organization serving the Chincoteague area Charter boat Captains and members. The waters of Chincoteague Island on Virginia’s Eastern Shore on the Atlantic ocean offer a great variety of recreation to provide you memorable experiences of sport and relaxation from April through October.

Chincoteague’s off-shore Fishing rivals the best in the Mid-Atlantic, with excellent catches of bluefin and yellowfin tuna, as well as dolphin, marlin, wahoo and king mackerel. Wreck fishing for sea bass is also very productive, with many large tautug being caught along with triggerfish, blues and spadefish. The in-shore fishing produces plentiful catches of flounder along with croaker, sea trout, and sea bass.

Scenic cruises offer the opportunity to explore the many fascinating areas around the channels, coves and marshes of the Chincoteague and Assateague waters. You will enjoy nature, the abundance of birds and wildlife, historic and scenic places. You will also have a chance to see the famous wild ponies, bald eagles, and Atlantic bottle nose dolphins.

Whatever your pursuits, the Chincoteague Captains are sure to fulfill your pleasures. All members of the Chincoteague Island Charter boat Association will provide you fully professional services. Our Captains are fully licensed, belong to a random drug testing program and have many years of experience. Our boats have been U S Coast Guard Inspected for safety. Before you contract to sail with someone, make sure they are properly licensed.

What We Offer

Off-Shore Fishing

The offshore fishing rivals the best in the Mid-Atlantic with excellent catches of bluefin and yellowfin tuna as well as dolphin (mahi-mahi), marlin, wahoo and king mackerel. Wreck fishing for sea bass and tautog is also very productive along with triggerfish, blues and spadefish. A variety of offerings is available to the angler. From an all-day trip to an overnighter. Contact one of the captains listed and they will fill you in on what is available.

In-Shore Fishing

Most captains offer a half-day fishing trip which is geared to the family. Boats carry up to 4 and sometimes as many as 6 passengers. The most sought-after fish inshore is flounder. We are blessed with a strong fishery. In addition, croaker, sea bass, bluefish and sea trout are often part of the day’s catch. Contact your favorite Captain for reservations!

Scenic Cruises

A wide choice of fun and scenic cruises is offered to explore the many fascinating areas around the channels, coves and marshes of the Chincoteague and Assateague waters. You will enjoy nature, the abundance of birds, wildlife, as well as historic and scenic places. It’s a most memorable day to get a first-hand view of the famous Pony Swim from a boat on the water. One and two-hour cruises available to be scheduled for morning, afternoon, evening and the most popular, sunset. Contact one of the captains and determine his offerings.

Sailing

Take a leisurely cruise aboard a quiet sailboat. Hands on charters as well as lessons are also available. Contact one of the captains and set up the experience of a lifetime.

Waterfowl Hunting

Several of our Captains provide excellent guided hunting trips to the marshes surrounding the Islands. Reservations go fast, so you might want to reserve this summer before you go home!
