Attention all dog lovers who can’t bear to leave their best friends behind on vacation. In 2019, the Town of Chincoteague Island opened a fabulous dog park! Finally, now the sweet doggies in our lives have a place to run around and play freely off leash.

The dog park has two large fenced-in, grassy areas.

Dog park permits must be obtained from the town office (6150 Community Drive) in order to use the park. You must bring proof of current rabies vaccination. The annual dog park permit is $35 for your 1st dog and $5 for each of your other dogs. The Annual Permits run from April 15th of the current year to April 15th of the next year. The Weekly Permits (7 days): $15 for your 1st dog and $5 for each of your other dogs.Dog owners must wear the permit on a lanyard while they are in the dog park.

The dog park is located on Hallie Whealton Smith Drive and shares the same parking lot as the Island Nature Trail.

If your pup still needs to burn off more energy, you can take her for a walk on the adjacent nature trail, on leash of course.
Non-agressive dogs only please. Dog fights are never a good thing.
Besides making sure your dog is social, there are a few other rules when using the dog park, and for the details please click here for a link to the Town of Chincoteague website.
Happy Trails! Or rather, Happy Tails!
