Save the Eggs!: Space-themed Egg Hunt and Egg Engineering Challenge
At the Save the Eggs! event, participants will have the opportunity to collect space-themed eggs and prizes during an eggs hunt, create an eggstronaut for an egg drop challenge, and participate in egg science demonstrations, egg rocket races, solar system toss, egg-spoon catapult and more! Spring Pony Round-up
The Ponies on Assateague will be rounded up for an overall health check by a Veterinarian. On Friday afternoon (around 4pm) the Saltwater Cowboys will round up the south herd into the southern corral. The southern corral is located along the road that goes out to the beach. Saturday morning (around 7am) the Saltwater Cowboys will round up the north herd into the northern corral. The northern corral is only accessible by walking or biking up the Service Road on Assateague.

Spring Pony Roundup Info from Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company (CVFC) and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge will welcome visitors to view the Spring Roundup at the South Pony Corral on the evening of Friday, April 7 and the morning of Saturday, April 8. Please enjoy this opportunity to view the ponies while observing safety precautions posted by the CVFC. As a safety precaution, the Service Road will be closed Saturday April 8 at D-dike to all visitors until roundup activities are completed in the afternoon.
SECOND BUS ADDED FOR SPRING POST ROUNDUP TREK
THE CNHA WILL ADD A SECOND BUS LEAVING THE BATEMAN CENTER AT 2:30 PM ON SATURDAY APRIL 8. A MINIMUM OF 20 TICKETS MUST BE SOLD FOR THIS TREK IN ORDER TO ROLL THE BUS. MINIMUM MUST BE MET BY APRIL 1. TICKETS ARE $25.00 EACH AND MAY BE RESERVED USING VISA, MASTERCARD, OR DISCOVER, BY CALLING 757-336-3696. IF MINIMUM NUMBER OF TICKETS IS NOT SOLD BY APRIL 1, ALL TICKETS FOR THIS TREK WILL BE REFUNDED. THIS TREK IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN AGES 8AND UNDER.
Town of Chincoteague received a $1.5 million grant from CNWR
The Town of Chincoteague has received a $1.5 million grant from the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to develop a multi-use trail along Maddox Boulevard and additional side streets in order to improve public safety and ease of access to the preserve.
Waterpark Update
On March 6, 2017 in a 5-1 vote the Chincoteague Town Council approved a conditional use permit allowing the construction of a water park at Maddox Campground.

On March 15, the Hook OSV zone closes & North OSV zone opens. OSV permit required.

New Restaurant
The Jackspot will reopen as Ropewalk this Spring. The Ropewalk is an open-air waterfront chain restaurant, with with locations in both Delaware and Maryland. Planned upgrades include the addition of sliding doors for an open-air dining experience, a barge bar on the water, a playground, cornhole boards and a fire pit. They are aiming to open Ropewalk, Chincoteague, in late April.
New Campground
The former “Maddox Campground” will reopen as “Chincoteague Island KOA” on Memorial Day.
Tales for Tots
The Chincoteague Island Library is hosting “Tales for Tots” every Thursday at 10 a.m. through May 25, 2017 (unless Accomack County Schools are closed or have a delayed opening). Preschool stories, songs, and crafts for children from two to five years of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free & open to all. No registration required.

Manna Café
EVERY Monday the Manna Café serves FREE hot lunch to people who live in the Chincoteague community. The lunch is served in the Social Hall at Christ United Methodist Church (6253 Church Street) from 11am until 1pm.
CNHA is seeking part time workers
CNHA is seeking applications to work part time in the CNHA Bookstore or the Assateague Lighthouse from April-September. Position is part time up to 30 hours per week, weekend and holiday work is required. Retail cash register experience is preferred but will train. Bookstore duties include stocking shelves, assisting customers, answering visitor inquiries in person and on the phone, taking reservations for bus treks. Lighthouse position requires strong visitor service and communication skills. knowledge of the areas history is a plus. Ideal for semi retired or college students seeking part time summer work. Next Antares Launch
Orbital ATK’s Antares team at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility is making great progress on the company’s eighth Cargo Resupply Mission (known as OA-8) to the International Space Station. The team plans to have Antares fully integrated and ready for the Cygnus payload by May.
