Chincoteague Island Farmers and Artisans Market
The the first Chincoteague Island Farmers and Artisans Market of 2019 will be April 27, 2019.
Great things from farm, field and bay plus quality arts, crafts and attic treasures. The market is your farm to table provider. Look for seasonal fruits and vegetables, seafood, eggs, meat and more! And jewelry, carvings, photos, fabric arts, plants, soaps, and other crafts. Saturdays: April 27 to October 26. Wednesdays: June 12 to August 28. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge Summer Hours
On May 1st the Refuge hours will change to 5:00am – 10:00pm.

Capt. Dan of Captain Dan’s Tours spotted the second foal of 2019 on April 1st!

Fishing Report
Captain Steve’s Bait and Tackle annual Flounder Tournament is scheduled for April 26 – May 5, 2019.
Entry is $25 per person for the Flounder Tournament. The BBQ/Cookout/Pot Luck/Prizes will be Friday May 3rd, 2019. Prizes and sponsorships are being finalized but usually over $3,000 in cash/prizes/door prizes awarded.

Eagle Nest Report
On March 29, 2019 the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge shared this video showing the two adult eagles in their nest, feeding fish to the eaglet.
The U.S. Navy is conducting Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) operations at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility with E-2 and C-2 propeller powered aircraft from Naval Air Station Oceana April 1 – 30. The flight schedule is available at https://www.cnic.navy.mil/content/dam/cnic/cnrma/pdfs/Flight_Schedule.pdf
FCLP is the phase of flight training that precedes carrier landing operations. The training at Wallops provides naval aviators critical and required training at a properly configured ashore airfield that simulates, as nearly as practicable, at-sea conditions for day and night flight operations aboard a moving aircraft carrier.
Assateague Lighthouse Tours
March – April
March-April: Saturday & Sunday 9 AM – 3 PM
OPEN DAILY April 15 – 29 Spring Break
Lighthouse may be closed due to weather or other unsafe conditions. Call (757) 336-3696 for updated information before your visit.
Refuge Trek Bus Tours
Refuge trek bus tours began running on March 23rd. Currently tours are operating Saturdays at 10am. In mid June Refuge Treks will be offered daily (except Wednesdays) through Labor Day weekend. Please call 757-336-3696 to make reservations.

Northrop Grumman Corporations’s CRS-11 mission is scheduled to launch aboard an Antares rocket to the International Space Station from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility.
