Saddle up, it’s New Year’s Eve in Chincoteague Bay! It might not be those summer temperatures that we all love but Chincoteague doesn’t let that snow it down. I mean slow it down. Check out some of these fun Chincoteague NYE party options in the area. Cheers!
New Years Eve – Pony Island Horseshoe Drop & Costume Promenade
This event will take place in Robert Reed Downtown Park at 11:00 p.m. “The Pony Island Horseshoe Drop is an end of year celebration that culminates in a promenade of crazy costumes just before the countdown to the stroke of midnight. That’s when the lighted horseshoe drops just in time to ring in the New Year!” (Source) You are encouraged to wear your favorite costume or just come and take it all in! This year’s theme is Cowboy “Culture” so come in your best saltwater cowboy costume and honor the time honored local tradition. This event is sponsored by Christmas By The Sea. Prizes will be awarded for various categories so join in the fun.
New Years Eve Party at the Island Theatre Featuring WWTunes
This is the unofficial official pre-game party for the Annual Horseshoe Drop. The event is hosted by the Island Theatre and put on by the The Chincoteague Island Arts Organization (CIAO). The party starts at 8:00 p.m. and will go until 11:00 p.m. Also, they are encouraging the attendees to walk across the street at 11:00 p.m. to join the Pony Island Horseshoe Drop & Costume Promenade party and to ring in the New Year! The night is going to feature live music from the WWTunes who have an extensive music catalog ranging from 1940’s hits to current favorites. In addition, there is also a beer and wine cash bar and it’s all for just $35 per ticket! Get your tickets here!
Additionally, this event will help raise funds for a huge community asset. “CIAO is a 501(3)c nonprofit organization, incorporated in Virginia as a non-profit in December 2011. CIAO was created to save, utilize and maintain the vintage Island Theatre as a cultural arts center for Chincoteague, offering a unique downtown venue for events.” (Source) The Island Theatre is located at 4074 Main Street in Chincoteague.
