Marshfest – A festival that celebrates the Ecosystem, Craft Beer, Music and Art all for a good cause.

September 9, 2017

Fall 2017 is proving to be one with great weather for Chincoteague Island. What better way to enjoy it than at an outdoor festival that has craft beer, live music, food, and even activities for the kids? This festival is called ‘Marshfest’. It is a fundraiser to be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from noon-6pm by the local craft brewery “Black Narrows Brewing Co.” in cooperation with the Chincoteague Bay Field Station. A full 100% of the proceeds will go towards providing hands-on educational experiences for 8th graders in Accomack and Northampton Counties.Marshfest logo 2

Who will love this?
Craft Beer Aficionados, foodies, music lovers, and anyone interested in learning more about the local business whose livelihood, relies at least in part, on the sustainable resources of the ecosystems on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.

Why?
All profits from Marshfest will go to providing local 8th graders with hands-on field trips that allow them to learn more about the coastal ecosystems.

What about the food and beer and music?

Kid Friendly Activities
Marshfest will have an art tent with creative activities for kiddos & local farms will bring a farm animal or two.  There might even be a surprise jump in the marsh at the end. So bring a change of clothes and a towel if your kids love the water as much as mine.

How Much are Tickets and Where Can I get them?
There are 5 different types of tickets, the drinking adult ticket is $30 per person and includes access to all the events in all ecosystems, concerts, and 6 free tasters.  There are 20 breweries at the event, so additional tickets for tasters will be for sale at the festival. The non-drinking adult ticket is $10.  Tickets for children under 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased from the Marshfest website. Plus, if people can’t make it to the festival, there’s a donation ticket as well where they can donate as little or as much as they like. All proceeds from the festival go towards the educational experience for local 8th graders.
