October 7, 2022
Get ready on October 8, 2022 the 3rd Annual Jeep Jam will be taking over Jellystone Park™ Chincoteague Island in Chincoteague, Virginia. Without a doubt it will be a great time. This amazing event will continue to support the Women Supporting Women organization based out of Maryland as it does every year. Furthermore, there will be food trucks, live music, meet and greets, trophies and more! It’s also open to the public. With over 100 registered Jeeps this will be a great time for the whole family!
Come and take in the custom Jeeps from all over the region and vote for several categories including “Best Decorated Jeep” (for breast cancer awareness). Best of all…this year’s event is sponsored by Ocean City Jeep Club and Dockside Properties.
History of Jeep Jam
Jeep Jam was started because some Jeep enthusiasts reached out to show runner Heather Robinson. “I was hosting classic car shows each year and hadn’t considered other types of “car” events. That year we hosted our 1st one and it was very well received. Jeeps are so popular and jeep owners put a lot into them…which is really obvious at the shows! Each year it gets bigger and better all the way around.” Heather is the Director of Events & Group Sales at Jellystone Park™ Chincoteague Island. They recently put on their 7th Annual Cork & Craft Festival which you can read about by clicking here.
Jeeps For A Good Cause
We asked Robinson what she is most excited about for this year’s Jeep Jam and she said, “To see its growth & raise money for a great cause. WSW (Women Supporting Women ) and good weather!” Here is a little background about the Women Supporting Women organization. It was founded in 1993 by Carol Prager, Harriette Fine, and Sue Revelle in Maryland. “Some of our services include prostheses, wigs, educational tote bags and community related events to educate the public. All of our services are FREE.
In addition to our main office, support groups are held in the surrounding counties of Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, and Dorchester.” (Source) The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so this will work out perfectly… Jeep enthusiasts can assemble and show off their rides and money will be raised for a great cause!
Live Music That Will Truly Rock
The live band for this year’s Jeep Jam will be dance and part pop/rock band Petting Hendrix. This woman fronted band will bring the rock and fun playing all the hits from Katy Perry to Blink-182 to the Cranberries… And don’t forget the classics like Don’t Stop Believin by Journey! Here is what people are saying about Petting Hendrix “Their sets leave nothing to the imagination. They span the decades with something for everybody in the crowd”, said Karen Stevenson of Great Scott Broadcasting out of Georgetown, Delaware.
Michael Brennan of Marina’s Rock On Pub boasted that, “Petting Hendrix is an exceptionally talented cover band with animated guitarists, hard hitting percussionist and a lead vocalist with golden pipes. In summary, Petting Hendrix has a great following of loyal fans that will turn an event at your venue into a party not to be missed!” Check out their Facebook band page here.
A Food Truck You Don’t Want To Miss
The featured food truck this year will be Capt E’s Hurricane Bar & Grill out of Saxis Island, Virginia. They feature some amazingly tasty seafood dishes, BBQ and more! Check out what they will be cooking by visiting their facebook page here.
