All I want for Christmas is…to go to the 42nd Annual Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade. On December 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. at Main Street in Chincoteague Island, Virginia come and enjoy, “enchanting floats, bands, marching units, decorated boats, fire companies from across the Eastern Shore, equestrian teams, classic cars, and more.” (Source) This annual parade is fun for the whole family and a timeless tradition. The people of Chincoteague know how to celebrate Christmas so grab your red and green sweater and sit back and enjoy the show!
The Chincoteague Police Department will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Annual Toy Run at this event. If you want to bring some cheer to a child in need this holiday season please feel free to participate. You can also make a donation that goes directly to the less fortunate people in the community.
After the parade the fun will continue at the Chincoteague American Legion Post 159 located at 4023 Main Street. Your little ones can visit jolly old Saint Nick and parents can enjoy refreshments provided by a great organization in the Kiwanis Club of Chincoteague. There will be a parade trophy and award ceremony as well and is presented by the wonderful Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce.
Parade applications are up here. The deadline is November 19th! If you want to be a part of the fun get your application in soon! This is a well attended event so make sure to come early to secure your spot.
