The Museum of Chincoteague Island is partnering with the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance (CCA), the Chincoteague Island Arts Organization (CIAO), Chincoteague Island Library, the Chincoteague Natural History Association, Assateague National Seashore, and the Virginia Barrier Islands Center to celebrate Heritage Days. The theme this year for the Museum’s opening weekend and the surrounding events is “When Assateague was Home”. This collaboration highlights the Museum’s current exhibit which features personal memories, photographs, and artifacts relating to Assateague Village from the 19th and 20th centuries. The various Island organizations have come together to create a weekend full of events to celebrate, and educate people about, Assateague Village and its people.
