Richard Vesely
Island property’s president & co-founder, Richard Vesely, was born a stone’s throw from the Frank Lloyd-wright house and studio in oak park, Illinois and grinningly credits that confluence with the development of his abiding passion for architectural design. The results of his work in this field can be seen in the more than 80 custom designed residences which have been built here on Chincoteague Island.
In addition to those privately commissioned dwellings Vesely’s support of community projects led to his recent design for the new octagon wing of the island library in the waterfront park in downtown Chincoteague.
Educated at the university of Wisconsin and New York’s Pratt institute, Richard Vesely has been a realtor and a resident of Chincoteague Island since 1971.
While bringing the island property brokerage activity to a close at the end of December 2014, Richard Vesely remains active with two of his recently designed houses which are now under construction on the island and he is splitting his time between Chincoteague and his residences in north Carolina and Alabama.
In this “semi-retirement” phase, Vesely is compiling a collection of photographs and plans of his architectural design projects over these past 43 years.
