of "Misty of Chincoteague" and Rebecca Giusti Misty
fan and student.
Our board of Directors consists of: President -
Secretary - Peter A. Stone of Breyer Animal Creations
Treasurer / Executive Director - Elizabeth Sutton,
author / photographer.
Jackie Russell, a Chincoteague resident and Chamber
of Commerce member.
Kendy Allen, Pennsylvania resident and owner of
Misty II, serves as honorary spokeswoman and ambassador,
and chairs the Chincoteague Benefit Auction.
We
are a non-profit corporation based in Charlottesville, Va. with legal council
in Richmond. We are supported by Newman's Own and thousands of donors,
internationally.
WHAT IS THE GOAL
To
raise the funds necessary to purchase and thereby preserve as much as possible
of the existing original Beebe ranch property on Ridge Road, Chincoteague
Island, Virginia.
Our intent is to preserve this historic place where
Misty and Stormy once lived with the Beebe family. Once the land has been
purchased, plans will proceed for an educational, museum to protect and
display archives related to the classic books created by Marguerite
Henry and Wesley Dennis. This museum will benefit future generations
of Chincoteague residents, and millions of readers all over the world who
travel to the Island to learn more about the Misty legend.
