The scholarship is awarded every year at the High School school graduation ceremony. The scholarship has been awarded to the student who can best describe the reason for needing the money. Qualifications are not based on grades or academic pursuits but is judged on the pursuit of your dreams and experiences that will make you a better person. A special scholarship board consisting of restaurant owners, surfers and Keith's friends reviews and judges the requests.

 Many educational experiences can not be found in a classroom environment and this will be considered. Special consideration is given to those who are pursuing a career in culinary arts since this was a great love of Keith's. One of his many dreams was to have a restaurant and be a chef, this scholarship will reflect that. Another of his unfulfilled dreams was to visit Costa Rica and surf. So those who are surfers will also have special consideration.
