Chincoteague offers
a great place to take off with a bike or walk. Everything is close and
has the perfect blend of small town and wilderness. Every year more bike
paths are being installed and many more are being planned. There is a path
at Memorial Park for you walking pleasure. To see more Chincoteague paths,

Hiking and Biking
on the refuge offers many views of the island unable to see anywhere else.
There are 15
miles of trails that wind through the marshes and forests and including
a path to the Assateague Lighthouse.
The
Woodland Trail is a 1.6 mile walk, that runs through the woods.
It is reserved for hikers and bikers till dusk.
The
Wildlife Loop is a 3.2 mile loop which leads to overlooks where
you will see many of the local bird species and possibly catch a glimpse
of the famous Chincoteague Ponies. It is open for hikers and bikers only
till 3 p.m. daily, and for vehicles till dusk.
North
End Trail is a access road north to the Maryland border, Only hikers
are allowed on this trail at any time, Closed to bikers and vehicles. This
8 mile trail offers the best view of the unspoiled parts of Assateague
Island.
