Monday Fun Day Kids Crafts
Looking for something to keep your kids busy this summer?  The Monday Fun Day Kids Craft class will offer a variety of projects for children ages 8 and up.  Sign up now, space is limited!

Do The Twist (no – not the dance!)
Learn how to “do the twist”, making beaded bracelets.  Instructor Jenny Somers will teach the art of free needle bead weaving.  Interest meeting will be held on August 3rd at 7:00 pm at the Senior Center.  At the meeting you will see examples of what you will be making, as well as learn about the materials you will need to bring to the class.  If interested, you may also register for the program at the August 3rd meeting.

National Night Out – YMCA Bike Safety Clinic
On Tuesday, August 7th, neighborhoods throughout Wallops Island and Chincoteague are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "24th Annual National Night Out".  This event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), Target, and co-sponsored locally by your PUBSAFPROG Wallops Island Det. Navy Security Department.  National Night Out is Designed to:   (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.  The Navy Security Department and Chincoteague Police Department will be hosting a variety of special events and giveaways.  Ocean Deli and Mister Whippys will be on hand to offer various foods and frozen treats.  The YMCA will be co-hosting a bike safety clinic with the Chincoteague Police Department.  Residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on the outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on 07 August 2007 at the Chincoteague Veterans Memorial Park.
